The challenge
What was going wrong
A shipping giant headquartered in Monaco operated a multi-geography on-premises infrastructure supporting international business operations, and required the migration of more than 450 workloads to Microsoft Azure West Europe together with a resilient disaster recovery capability. The environment spanned multiple countries, datacentres and business operations, with complex network connectivity, legacy workloads, data-transfer constraints, limited migration windows and regulatory and residency considerations.

Assessed more than 450 workloads for rehosting, replatforming, modernisation, retirement or consolidation.

Designed a secure Azure landing zone with subscription and management-group structure, identity integration, network architecture, firewall controls, role-based access, policy governance and cost management.

Executed a wave-based migration — application grouping, dependency validation, replication, pilot migration, cutover planning, business validation, production transition and hypercare.
- 04
Incorporated disaster recovery through workload criticality classification, defined RTOs and RPOs, Azure Site Recovery, backup architecture, network failover, recovery runbooks, testing and failback planning.
